Gasparo

Viola - Gasparo da Salò, c.1580

The Gasparo viola is easy to play and has a wonderful voice, powerful, deep and sonorous. The instrument’s tone also has a surprising quality I can only describe as “youthful”. It has the energy, strength, and immediate responsiveness of youth. It is not subdued and whispery as you’d imagine an instrument over 400 years old might be.
