Petrus

Violin - Pietro Guarneri, Mantua, 1698, ex Shapiro

This Peter of Mantua Guarneri violin is graceful, delicately carved, has gorgeous varnish, and is decorated with elegant fleur-de-lis inlays in the corners of its bouts. Its tone is warm, polished, and elegant. It has sufficient power for any purpose and, in fact, was used to win the 1994 Paganini competition. For ten years it was my only violin. I still love it and will never part with it.
